DSWA is accepting applications to fill two (2) Operations Skilled Laborer positions for the Southern Solid Waste Management Center located in Georgetown. Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled. The positions include a full benefit package including State of DE Pension, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and other benefits. ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS: Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Must possess a valid drivers’ license. A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) class “B” Preferred. Must possess First Aid and CPR certification (Certification training provided by DSWA). Demonstrate knowledge and experience with tools, equipment and machinery applicable to this position. Demonstrate knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions associated with this position. Knowledge of safe operation of basic hand and power tools. Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures. Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to interact with the public and staff in a courteous and tactful manner.
Physical Requirements: This position requires standing, walking, sitting, gripping with hands, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking and hearing. This position requires lifting up to 50 pounds. The position requires: Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less). Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more). Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors). Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up or down or to the left and right when vision is fixed on a given point). Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships). Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).
