DSWA is seeking to hire an Internal Auditor for our Dover Administrative Office. Compensation will be based on the Education, Certification, Qualifications and Skills of the selected candidate. PURPOSE: Performs audits of the organizational financial and information systems, assessing compliance with applicable standards and guidelines and sufficiency of internal controls. Responsible for auditing DSWA purchases for legitimacy to prevent fraud, waste and abuse.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

• Analyzes financial and other records to determine legitimacy, accuracy and compliance with DSWA policies, state or federal laws, rules and regulations to prevent fraud, waste and abuse.
• Reviews internal controls, policies and procedures for effectiveness and reports findings to the CEO.
• Ensures appropriate and allowable use of funding, expenses, costs and reimbursement, and works with project managers and authority staff to make adjustments based on findings.
• Interviews staff and management; gathers pertinent data, information, records and documentation to support audits. May include field investigations to obtain and clarify information.
• Assists in developing internal controls in accordance with company policy/accounting standards and provides guidance to management to ensure adherence to policy.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications include: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and four (4) years of related experience. May be required to sign a statement of confidentiality. Comprehensive knowledge of GAAS and GAAP. Ability to communicate complex financial and accounting issues in both oral and written form. Knowledge of accounting theories, concepts, principles and standards. Knowledge of computerized financial management systems, including data entry and correction procedures. Knowledge of recordkeeping and report preparation techniques. Ability to maintain accurate, current accounting records. Ability to assemble and analyze financial and accounting data and make recommendations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Knowledge of the methods and techniques used in complex financial and accounting data analysis. Skill in understanding, interpreting and applying policies, rules and regulations. Ability to prepare and explain a variety of financial reports.

This position requires standing, walking, sitting, gripping or feeling with hands, reaching with hands and arms, and talking or hearing. This position requires lifting up to 10 pounds. This position requires close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less). This position risks exposure to indoor environment.
